In the first period of the Omani plastic movement, a number of artists emerged who played a pioneering role in introducing visual aesthetics and establishing the first building blocks of the plastic movement. From this nucleus, it was necessary to find a new practical formula that would unleash the energies and ambitions of young artists who took it upon themselves to develop the plastic movement so that it could take up a space of sound foundational spread in accordance with the standard of high artistry. At the beginning of 1980, the Youth Studio was established to undertake the task of embracing artists and qualifying talented people in various fields of art.

Among these factors is benefiting from the presence of some foreign artists and connoisseurs who came to the Sultanate as experts in many fields, which created a kind of friction and exchange of views, through participating in reading the surroundings and creating an atmosphere of love and respect and reading the experiences of others. Educational schools played an important role in introducing young talents to the subject of art education, inviting them to practice plastic arts, and holding school exhibitions for them. In addition, the daily life topics that were accessible to the artist opened a space to attract the public towards exhibitions and plastic forums and participate in pushing the movement forward towards… Forward.
With the increase in exhibitions and the provision of opportunities for visual artists to be present and communicate with others, the pluralism of trends, schools and methods became present and played a role in shaping the image of the new constructive features of the Omani plastic movement after recording realism was prevalent in the works of most Omani artists. Today we witness many artistic exhibitions and participations, and many awards won by plastic artists in various artistic fields such as drawing, oil painting, photography, Arabic calligraphy, calligraphy formations, sculpture, and other artistic fields. In addition, what has been built since the first exhibition, which was held in 1977 AD, is considered a major achievement that will be counted for the benefit of the Omani visual artist in the future.
The Contemporary Arts Hall may provide material and moral support to the plastic movement while providing the necessary materials and artistic tools, and holding exhibitions and artistic workshops for artists inside and outside the Sultanate. There are also other institutions, such as the Cultural Club, Bait Al-Zubair Museum, Bait Al-Baranda, Bait Muzna Gallery, and other galleries that contribute to advancing the fine arts movement, by hosting personal and group exhibitions.
The Contemporary Arts Hall recorded a distinguished presence in various artistic fields. It has become prominent through its various participations in biennials, exhibitions, and plastic arts forums inside and outside the Sultanate. All of these contributions confirm the maturity that the Omani plastic artist has achieved in thinking, depth in presentation, and proficiency in the artistic work he presents.
