The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth announced the Sohar Prize for Critical Studies, which aims to consolidate the Sultanate’s position as a cultural destination that embraces creators, motivates and honors them. The award seeks to support Arab creators in their cultural role in appreciation of their creative path. The Ministry opened participation in this award for Arab writers, provided that the study is in the classical Arabic language, which is specific to literary criticism studies related to Oman in language and literature. Participation is limited to unpublished critical studies, where studies that are originally master’s theses or university theses are not accepted. The ministry’s website includes that the research should not be less than twenty thousand words and not more than thirty-five thousand words, and the critical study is required to abide by the scientific controls. The winning studies in the first three places will be awarded financial prizes, and the award will be withheld for any case violation of the mentioned conditions.
The winning publications in the first three places will be published, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth retains the rights to the first edition of these publications, where participants have the legal responsibility for all intellectual property rights related to their work.
