Public Libraries Forum Opens Tomorrow

Coinciding with the celebration of the World Library Day, which falls on the last Monday of October each year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth represented by the Department of Libraries and Cultural Centers organizes the activities of the Civil Libraries Forum during the period (October 25-28), which starts today, via virtual and video conference.

The forum targets those in charge of libraries and civil cultural centers in the Sultanate, as well as those who specialize in the field of libraries and are interested in it, with the participation of nearly 150 specialists from various libraries and civil cultural centers in the governorates of the Sultanate.

The forum will include a set of various topics that serve the field of libraries which are provided by a group of specialists in this field, with the aim of supporting libraries and cultural centers through training those in charge on the scientific foundations of the technical operations used in libraries, using the electronic programs that manage them, as well as the criteria for building and developing groups of information sources, and developing communication skills with others, and marketing these libraries through modern means. The activities of the forum will also include announcing the winners of the civil libraries and cultural centers competition, which was launched by the Ministry this year.

This forum comes in the Ministry’s keenness to enhance communication with those in charge of these civil institutions, find ways of shared cooperation, exchange experiences, and enhance communication between them to advance their performance and improve their services, to succeed in the role of providing the community with knowledge.
