The Ministry Conducts its First Workshop to Activate the Governance of Sports Clubs

On Monday Morning, Ministry has the first of a series of workshops was held in a series of episodes to activate the governance of sports clubs’ work. The event took place in the students’ lecture hall of the General Diwan in Rewi by His Excellency Khaled Ben Al-Sail Al-Ghassani. He explained to the audience the importance of this kind of workshop. So, the targets stakeholders working in the legal and financial fields to aid in club governance. Whether they are ministry employees or workers in clubs, their boards of directors. He was happy for the participation and good cooperation by clubs in their efforts to continue governance in a way that ensures stability in the clubs’ work.

The governance of sports clubs aims to ensure the ability to administrative, financial, and technical sustainability and rationalize spending from direct and indirect government support for clubs. Moreover, reallocating priorities and directing financial resources towards implementing programs. Furthermore, the governance organizes the work of clubs financially and administratively to rearrange their priorities and direct their available resources towards the implementation of priority cultural, sports, and youth programs and activities.
The first topic covered the concepts of governance and the underlying legal framework for governance and it consist of 4 topics. It was presented by Dr. Khaled Al-Hashani, the Minister’s advisor for sports planning, and Ziyad Al-Balushi, director of the Legal Department. The second topic reviewed the circular that was approved last year as a first step for the work of sports club governance, which was presented by Hilal Al-Maamari, Director of the Clubs and Centers Department. In addition, the third topic notes and documents that are required by an internal audit Khalil Al Shelly, Director of Internal Audit. Furthermore, Khalifa bin Saif Al-Esai, Director General of Sports Activities presented an aspect of activating the generalization of governance.

This is the first workshop that the Ministry will continue to implement episodes targeting other governorates, their clubs, and administrations to convey the concept of governance and work with it in sports clubs in Oman.
